4th International Contest “Chocolates processed at origin» AVPA-Paris 2024

Updated: Nov 1

The 4th edition of the "Chocolates Processed at origin " International Contest AVPA-Paris 2024 confirmed its success with more than 170 chocolates registered, demonstrating the sustained interest of chocolate producers.

More than twenty countries participated again in this 4th competition from three continents  producing cocoa and making chocolate outside Europe: Africa, America and Asia...

The candidates are partly cocoa farmers processing their cocoa to make chocolate and, partly local chocolatiers who have been able to organize a cooperation network with farmers in their country to offer excellent chocolates on their national and international markets.

The chocolates presented to a Technical Jury chaired by Pascale Adeline were divided into several categories:

Dark chocolates without additives:  in this category some chocolates obtained a special prize delivered by Chloé Doutre-Roussel

Various chocolates: dark chocolates with adjuvant or additive, milk chocolates, chocolates with various ingredients, chocolate candies etc....

The Gastronomic Jury, under the chairmanship of Emmanuelle de Beauregard, then met to taste the chocolates selected by the Technical Jury, to complete the grades for the award of medals.

For this fourth edition of 2024, the jurors were once again able to appreciate the diversity of origins, tastes, and creativity of chocolatiers in choosing their ingredients. They were able to classify and order the samples so they could taste them in a fair way and select them for the Gastronomic Jury. It should be noted that the quality of the chocolates presented has further improved especially in balance and texture. This year 93 medals were distributed, including 6 “Gourmet Or “(Costa Rica, Indonesia, Peru, Sao Tome, and Thailand) 9 “Gourmet Argent” (Colombia, Haiti, Peru, Taiwan and Thailand) 17 “Gourmet Bronze” (Benin, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ghana, Honduras, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Sao Tome, Taiwan, Thailand, Uganda, and Venezuela,) and 61 “Médaille Gourmet”.

AVPA would also like to thank Le Domaine B&B for supporting us during this presentation.

Domaine B&B Bouché, located in the heart of the Limoux vineyards, was founded in 1989 by Bruno and Bernadette, two champagne growers who wanted to return to the source of the first bubble in wine.

B&B are the initials of Bruno and Bernadette, with the logo symbolizing the wings of an angel - indeed, on the first vineyard parcel acquired by Bruno, they noticed that a statue of an angel was embedded in the trunk of an olive tree.

Today, it's their three sons Guillaume, Valentin and Paul Bouché who have taken over the estate, sharing their passion for their terroir and the know-how of effervescence!

In collaboration with Laëtitia DAVOINE from Vinopass, they have set out to export their delicious crémants and blanquettes all over the world.

The results were announced to the lucky winners on Tuesday, June 18th at 14:00

The award ceremony took place in the Salon du Chocolat on October 30th at 4 pm.
