AVPA: Building global partnerships to promote the world of tea

In the tea industry, collaboration, knowledge exchange, and shared commitment to quality are essential for growth. The AVPA (Association pour la Valorisation des Produits Agricoles) plays a central role in connecting tea institutions, associations, and boards worldwide—particularly in tea-producing countries—to advance these common goals.

Last year, AVPA had the honor of participating in Taiwan’s prestigious TRES Tea Maker Competition. Carine Baudry, AVPA Teas of the World International Contest President, and Ksenia Hleap, leading Development, had the chance to work closely with the Tea and Beverage Research Station (TBRS). This collaboration led to Taiwanese delegates being invited to Paris as honored members of the AVPA jury for the 2024 Teas of the World International Contest. Such exchanges foster expertise, deepen appreciation for fine teas, and create a global network committed to excellence.

Building on this momentum, AVPA was recently invited by UPASI and the Indian Tea Board to the 8th India International Tea Convention (IITC2025) in Kochi. Warm congratulations go to UPASI and its leadership—Mr. Mathew Abraham, Mr. Joy Thipaiah, and Mr. R. Sanjith—for organizing a flawless convention that brought together innovators and visionaries from across the global tea sector.

AVPA was proudly represented by Arnaud Dhenin, Tea Expert and Board Member, Co-Founder & Executive Director of L’Autre Thé, who joined a distinguished panel of global tea professionals to discuss the future of tea. AVPA also contributed to the Specialty Tea Competition, celebrating excellence, diversity, and craftsmanship in fine teas—a shared passion that unites producers and experts alike. The convention’s agenda, filled with thought-provoking presentatiwww.avpa.frons, reinforced the urgency of global collaboration to promote innovation, increase tea consumption, enhance value, and reposition tea as a beverage of choice. Sustainability, market access, and creative engagement with consumers emerged as key priorities for the industry.

Through these international partnerships, AVPA acts as a catalyst for connection, linking producers, researchers, and tea professionals worldwide. By facilitating knowledge exchange, hosting competitions, and fostering collaborations, AVPA ensures that exceptional teas are recognized and that producers receive the support they deserve.

Looking ahead, AVPA is committed to expanding collaborations across all tea-producing countries, creating synergies that advance quality, empower communities, and celebrate tea as both a cultural and gastronomic treasure. Support for AVPA’s initiatives is vital to continue this mission—ensuring that producers, institutions, and enthusiasts around the world can work together toward a shared vision of excellence.
